A Journey of Remembrance, Learning, and Reconciliation

The Southeastern Circuit of United Methodist Churches (Lamar, La Junta, Two Buttes, and Wiley) invites you to join us for a meaningful visit to the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site on Saturday, November 14th.

📅 Saturday, November 14, 2026
🕤 9:30 AM
📍 Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site

Together, we will spend the morning learning about the tragic events of the Sand Creek Massacre, reflecting on the historical connections between the Methodist Church and the massacre, and considering our calling to seek healing and reconciliation.

We will also learn about ongoing efforts to work alongside the descendants of the massacre, including our support of the annual Sand Creek Massacre Spiritual Healing Run and other initiatives dedicated to remembrance, healing, and reconciliation.

This visit is an opportunity to listen, learn, remember, and reflect on how acknowledging the difficult parts of our history can help us build a more just and compassionate future.

All are welcome to join us!

Please RSVP to Pastor Travis if you plan to attend so that we can share any important updates or information about the visit.

We hope you’ll join us for this important morning of remembrance, reflection, and learning.
